Stencilcase TTF is a nice hand drawn/stencil look ‘toyware’ font from Robot Johnny (John Martz), a cartoonist and illustrator living in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. He also is responsible for the creation of the quirky fun Fruity Drink type face that was posted a few months ago. Johnny says “Remember those little plastic lettering stencils? Now you can more easily make little cruddy letters with this font. Two weights for your fonting enjoyments – regular and extra chunky (er, bold, that is).” That pretty much sums it up – the regular version is a little more scratchy looking and open, the bold adds some weight to the face and closes it up a bit. Salaryman
Salaryman is a very nice freeware extended sans serif typeface from Patrick Broderick at RotoDesign in San Francisco, CA. The font is supplied as upper case only, and has limited punctuation included in the Truetype face – but Salryman does have a full alphabet and numerals. Nice, Thin, Extended, slightly round at the ends, super legible up close and from afar – Salaryman is a great type choice for headlines. Reminds me of a slightly less refined version of the more angular Miedinger Light from CanadaType. Download Salaryman TTF.
Veggieburger
Veggieburger, one of the first font experiments from California based web, print and font designer Robbie Woodward at Woodward Works is a happy, care-free typeface with the legibility of a sans serif face and the light heartedness of a quirky hand drawn font (but not wretched like comic sans!). Supplied in three weights; light, regular and bold – it reminds me of a marriage between (apple) marker felt and (monotype) gill sans with a little bit of (adobe) Tekton mixed in, clean but still fun. Veggieburger would be great for summer time posters, cards, headlines, invitations, or grilled on a BBQ with some soy cheese. note – the lower case g, e, and a are particularly funky. TGL 310134-1
Peter Wiegel “Cat Fonts!” from Wolgast, Germany brings us this sans-serif TGL 31 034-1, a nice font that looks like a DIN ISO drafting template set of letters – the -1 is regular and -2 is italic version. Nice, clean, modern (to me, it is reminiscent of some emigre faces of the 90s) and easy to read. Download TGL31034-1 and -2 OTFs.
