Oi, What was I thinking? I dunno really. I like it. It’s weird. It’s chunky when you zoom in on it, maybe someone somewhere needs a letter with clouds and a horizon and lines draw all chunky and funky like this, and maybe I like bunnies. I dunno. Easter Sunrise is from Renn Crump (aka pseudo nym) one of the guys who has been around a while designing some sweet shareware faces and this one has a retro-throwback vibe (maybe this one is from Dover?). Download the Easter Sunrise TTF, and be hoppy.

Somewhere between the straight laced ITC Avant Garde Gothic Book and the funky Aaux Light with a little bit of dirty funk thrown in, falls Birth of a Hero. It’s a bit rough and grungy but has undeniable roots in those esteemed faces. This font is from the canadian designer known as Last Soundtrack, and comes with the usual upper and lower case letters, numbers, punctuation and some accented characters to take it around the globe. Download the Birth of a Hero TTF and enjoy your new rough grotesk face.

What we gonna do right here is go back, way back … Another classic old school banger from prolific funky type designer Jakob Fischer aka Pizzdude, straight out of the .DK .. Kitchen Police, techno angular edge, pretty legible but not for text. Maybe a sign from Blade Runner or Back to the Future, you know what I mean? Download Kitchen Police Truetype font, and enjoy.

Vernon Adams, from Reading, UK is a super productive (one a week is his goal!) web font designer has brought Six Caps to light, a very nice narrow sans-serif caps only face that reminds me of some old wood display type but also has a modern streamlined feeling. In some ways it reminds me of a good old angular tall stand-by; Agency Compressed from Font Bureau with refined, smoother composition. Download the truetype Six Caps font and start capping and be sure to check out Vernon’s web-site for his new faces at http://code.newtypography.co.uk/.

Aneurysm is a super grungerific freeware truetype font from Florida based artist/comedian Rev. Josh Wilhelm, formerly of Spork Thug Typography. Aneurysm has a sort of cyber-techy glitchy edge but remains dirty and grungey which is something you may or may not want. Holy crap my brain hurts. Download the TTF.

Copse, from London, England based designer and typographer Dan Rhatigan (also known as Sparky) is a family designed for the wonderful resource known as the Google Font Directory. Dan says “Copse is a low contrast slab serif that is a little soft around the edges, but with a clear and sturdy posture.” and I couldn’t agree more. Copse is a hybrid of a text face and a typewriter face, meant to hold up well if used at small sizes online, but produce a soft but clear effect at larger sizes. It has low contrast and soft edges, with some kicky ball terminals to provide a splash of color. Download Copse Regular TTF.
