What is Vhia? it’s a tribut to 90s sci fi – with its angular, goemoetric and futuristic characteristics. I could easily see this on an electro punk cyber techno record album sleeve. Old MONKEY GARAGE former member of the “KREW”, his course of the typography pass above all by his influence of urban art. “I am not a typographer, I do not seek to create the perfect letter. Airstrip Four

Now arriving at Fontaday .. Airstrip Four from funky freeware font finagler Vic Fieger. It’s a nice clean face, techno influenced no-doubt about it. Rounded edges, straight ascenders, quirky angles. From afar it could be mistaken for something like Vag Rounded Black, but when you really look you see it has its own character and hard edged techno funky detroit-berlin-transeurope express-like spirit. Six Caps

Vernon Adams, from Reading, UK is a super productive (one a week is his goal!) web font designer has brought Six Caps to light, a very nice narrow sans-serif caps only face that reminds me of some old wood display type but also has a modern streamlined feeling.  In some ways it reminds me of a good old angular tall stand-by; Agency Compressed from Font Bureau with refined, smoother composition. Capsuula

Capsuula — from Nitra, Slovak Republic based graphic designer Henrich Fichna (haef) is a very nice, clean legible sans-serif design that would feel equally right used for text or simple headlines- or maybe a presentation would benefit from a nice simple typeface like this. Reminds me a little of some emigre faces from the 90s or a smoother version of this nice face from Betatype called Pill Gothic. Click to Download Capsuula TTF.

Nadia Serif

Nadia Serif comes to us from Nadia Knechtle at  Quersicht :: Visuelle Gestaltung in Freienbach, Switzerland. A nice, friendly slab serif face that would be nice for text or display use equally. Nice solid slab serifs with subtle round corners give Nadia a less cold and more friendly look and don’t look too much like a typewriter or boring monospace typeface that feels a little bit like a slightly less angular Aptifer Slab from Linotype.  Download Nadia Serif TTF.

Acid

A creative commons typeface called Acid (personal edition), supplied in Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Medium and Medium Italic! Thanks to designer Stephan Baum, of Trier, Germany. Acid reminds me of a less chunky version of a nice face from t26 called Dubius, with maybe a little bit of Franklin Gothic Light in the mix. Modern, legible, maybe a little grotesk, a nice all around face that has a lot of uses – and the six version really help! (two fonts in a row from designers based in Trier, and it was totally unplanned.. Trier is font central these days, it seems!) Download the Acid family of six OTF faces.

Quicksand

An overall very nice sans serif and slightly grotesk and slightly rounded opentype typeface, Quicksand is sure to fill the needs if you seek a nice neutral contemporary face for easy to read signage, text, headlines, etc.. (it feels like a marriage between news gothic and vag rounded to me). Supplied in seven styles- Bold, Bold Oblique, Book, Book Oblique, Dash, Light, and Light Oblique – Quicksand had a lot of options! I especially like the Dash style.
